Some days bring joy and hope. Others bring sadness, worry, or grief. Most bring a little of everything.
Being human means feeling all of it. Emotional wellness isn't about staying positive. It's about letting feelings show up without rushing to judge them, fix them, or push them away.
There Are No "Bad" Emotions
Some feel comfortable and some don't, but every one has something to tell us:
Joy shows us what matters
Sadness reflects someone or something we value
Anger signals a crossed boundary or something unfair
Fear helps us spot uncertainty or danger
Feelings can also mix. We can be excited about a new start and sad about what we're leaving behind. We don't have to pick one.
Swap the Quick Fix for Honesty
Instead of "Look on the bright side" or "Just stay positive," try saying:
"This is disappointing."
"I'm sad today."
"I'm not sure how I feel yet."
Then let that be enough for a while. Not every feeling needs a solution.
Making Room Doesn't Mean Getting Stuck
Accepting a feeling doesn't mean liking it or wanting it to stay. We can:
Feel anger without acting on it
Feel sadness without believing it's forever
Notice fear without letting it make every decision
Next time, try asking: What might this feeling be trying to tell me?
A Lesson From the Season
Trees don't cling to every leaf. They let one season give way to the next. Our inner lives have seasons too: times of energy and rest, times that feel light and times that feel heavy. And just like the trees, how we feel today won't last forever.
This Month's Invitation
Wellness isn't feeling good all the time. It's making room for whatever shows up. So this month, don't try to feel better. Just feel.
